Heres 7 powerful steps to keeping your lodge cast iron charcoal grill or any cast iron charcoal grill in great working order forever!

As im sure you know, bbq grills.. especially a cast iron charcoal grill can provide your family years of use.

One of the reasons i love my lodge cast iron hibachi is because it can hold heat alot longer than the average, run of the mill grill.

The fact that iron grills have the ability to last almost forever makes it a must have.. (well at lease it did for me lol).

Which is why its very important to learn how to take care of your lodge cast iron charcoal grill or any iron grill for that matter so hopefully you can pass it down to your son or daughter.

Ok, so what will i need to clean my iron bbq grill?

Good question.. you'll need:

* Cooking oil..

* A few old rags..

* Paper towel..

* Any type of stiff grill cleaning brush..

* Dish washing soap..

* Aluminum foil..

* A few steel wool pads..

* Sea salt.

Lets get to work shall we?

*1 Heres the fun part lol. Start a fire in your grill as you would normally do. Cover your grill (for 15 mins) if it comes with a lid, if not that fine also.

*2 Now scrape your iron cooking grates with your stiff grill brush. Remove all grease and stuck on food from the walls and bottom of your grill and let your grill cool down.

*3 Ok lets remove the grate from the grill shall we.

*4 Mix about 1 cup of dish washing soap and about 1 cup of sea salt until it turns into a paste like substance. Now scrub your cast iron grates with another stiff grill cleaning brush (make sure you apply pressure). Just allow the dish washing soap and sea salt combo to set on grill around 40 mins.

*5 Ok lets rinse the iron grates with hot water and use your paper towel to dry. Next cover both sides of the grate with a good serving of cooking oil.

*6 Place your iron cooking grates back on your grill and start another fire and cover. Allow your grates to sit over the fire for about 1 hour. Let your grill cool.

*7 Again, coat your iron grates with cooking oil. Also apply cooking oil to an old rag and wipe down the inside of your grill to remove all grease and burned on food.

There you go, that's it. I perform this task about 4-5 times a year to keep my lodge cast iron hibachi looking nice and in great cooking condition.

I hope i have been of help. Good luck and have a good day my friend.
